Swedish 96 in 6.5x55

I have a desire to find a Swede rifle, a 96 in 6.5x55mm. I wanted to build another sporter, and have a M43 Mauser from Spain that I had planned to use. Turns out Now I am leaning toward a trim little 96. So I have an extra 98 that needs to go. And, I really don't want to tear down a nice Swede for the action. Anybody know where to find a 96 action in good shape? I'm not worried about the stock, or really even the barrel. Anybody have an extra? Need a 98?

the quest continues

huh... at some point, I should probably check what model my Swede is...

But I can't help you: bought mine as a "scout" rifle. Probably be using it in a Humpday Hardware

How much for the 98? Action, action and barrel, or complete rifle? Caliber?

AD, it's a complete rifle. Standard Mauser 98, made in Spain, 8mm.

If it hasn't been sporterized, let's talk turkey.

No AD, not turkey, Spain.

Oh, somtimes I crack me up.

Email sent AD.

I've got a KBI 6.5x55 that has been de-sighted and lives in the KBI plastic stock. Standard length barrel, IIRC. Got some funky scope bases on it, no rings. Feel free to holler at me if you want to take a look at it and I'll dig it out. I bought it when I thought I wanted a third Swede to keep the nicer ones company. I can't for the life of me even remember what shape the bore is in, but it can't be too bad, else I wouldn't have bought it.

AD needs the first right of refusal at that '98, though. Don't tempt me with it.

oh, and yeah, the KBI is a '96. It was their interpretation of a remanufactured Bubba gun.

Thanks Rabbit, the 'funky scope bases' scare me a bit. I've got a Forster drill and tap fixture, so I'd really rather do it my self. That is unless I know they were right to start with. But I will keep it in mind.

Oh, they're only funky because I haven't bothered to identify them. Probably something common as fire ants and cat fleas. I'll get in there and find out what they are now, since it's the weekend and I need a project to occupy my mind. Besides, now that I've thought about it, my curiosity is aroused.

Rabbit.
