Good things come......

They say good things come to those who wait. They also say a watched pot never boils.

Well, now I say a watched proof never foams.

Yeah, that was a reach. I'm making homemade bread. I have the yeast in water and milk, per the recipe, and am just waiting for it to 'work'. It has to go active, then start it's yeasty goodness. When it looks like foam on the top, I can add it to the flour and other stuff.

Waiting stinks.

More later.

There's not a lot of food in water+milk for the yeasty beasties to chomp on. Shouldn't there be a little bit of flour or sugar in there?

How warm is your liquid? I do best with about 120 degrees. or, use instant yeast and forget the proofing.
